To those who volunteered at Love Cronulla
this past week, I cannot express enough my sincere thanks for your time,
energy, effort and resources this past week.
Love Cronulla was an immense
success.
Let me give you a list of what the
teams of volunteers accomplished during the week.
The Team of 16 not only built the retaining wall, but thanks to a
donation from someone on the work site, poured the concrete slab for the
BBQs and the drainage pit behind the wall and put in the seats and mulched
the whole area.
The large team of over 30 people who painted during the week
completed the Assistant Principal’s office, the new Paperless Classroom,
the Teacher’s Lunch Room and the Main Auditorium.
The team of 3 under the building finished transforming the
dungeon from an absolute storage mess to a very organised and spacious
area for use.
The team of 5 completed the arduous, dusty and muscle testing
task of taking out the old play equipment, astro turf, edging and rubber
underlay.
The team of 8 who cleared 40-50 meters of asparagus weed, cut
down dead trees and cleared out who knows what else along the fence line
of the school.
The team of two who cleared and restacked the sports cupboard.
The team of 3 who cleared out, made the covering and set up the
new sand pit.
The team of 5 who made morning teas everyday for the staff and
volunteers.
The team of 5 who put on the BBQ for the kids and the team of 3
that put on the lunch for the teachers.
The team of 4 who installed the new staff kitchen and hot water
system.
The team of two who ran the cables for the new paperless
classroom and also rewired the room to take the couple of dozen computers.
The team of 3 who weeded 40 meters of the other side of the
school’s brush and then the team of 1 that plugged away at other spots
around the school.
The team of two who plumbed, patched a wall installed a cabinet
and sink in the new special education classroom.
The team of one who made the new soccer posts for the oval that
will be installed in the coming weeks.
The team of 3 who packed and stacked countless kilos of garbage,
old furniture and waste into the dumpster.
The team of 2 who repainted the hand rails.
The team of 3 who re-turfed the old play area.
The team of 4 who have and will continue to cover 100 books.
The team of 3 from Bunnings who planted out and mulched two new
garden beds.
The team of 2 who removed 12 playground seats from concrete ready
for the BBQ area.
The Team of 5 who donated the turf, concrete, sleepers, the sink,
a hot water system, paint, wire reinforcing, pad for hire gear, the
sandpit cover, packs of concrete, the 50+ coffees, computer cables, form
work and many, many other things.
The team of one, Ross Salter who took the full week off work to
be on site to manage the whole love Cronulla project and direct
volunteers.
At the end of the week love Cronulla
was successful because God was glorified through gifts of service that were
done with excellence. Not one person complained of the back breaking work. Not
one person asked what was in it for us. Every single person played their part
with a smile on their face and joy in the heart. It was as though it was their
pleasure to volunteer their time to help a school that will never know their
name, but may, through their humble act of service, get to know their God.
“Let your light shine before men,
that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” [Matthew
5:16]
